A beautiful and unusual white tea from the Fuding region of Fujian province. Picked in 2018, Huang Xiao Bai comes from seed grown plants (rather than cuttings), which gives a much broader range of genetic variation in the plants.
The tea garden has been left semi-wild with low management of the tea plants for more than 10 years. This means that the garden itself has excellent biodiversity, which tends to allow the tea plants to grow in a more natural way yielding more complexity in flavour and aroma. The tea has been picked to a high-quality, Gong Mei (tribute) grade; a mix of tender buds and fine leaf. The resulting tea produces complex flavours and seductive aromas. The taste is a complex, multi-layered experience, blending hints of wildflowers, cooked pear and honey which is rich and smooth, yet refreshing.
