Why is the Yangtse River so enchanting?
Gao Xiang
Feb 18, 18:30-20:00
The Yangtze, stretching over 6300 kilometers, is the longest river in China and Asia, and is considered China's “mother river”. It crosses the Tibetan plateau, the Sichuan basin and the plain of the middle and lower Yangtze, giving rise to the brilliant cultures of Liangzhu and Wu-Yue. As a vital artery of transportation and economy in ancient China, the Yangtze witnessed many historical transitions, while fostering, along its course, a great diversity of ecosystems and a profound cultural richness.

Gao Xiang traveled along the Yangtze, documenting his observations through a series of sketches. During our discussion in Zurich, he will share his experiences and insights on the evolving landscapes and the lives of the people along the river.

यंत्र yantra
Francine Mury in dialogue with Prof. Maya Burger
March 6, 18:00-20:00
Yantras are contemplative mystic diagrams used to focus the mind, cultivate inner control, and free oneself from the habitual distractions that hinder connection with one’s true source and center.

This talk brings together artist Francine Mury and Maya Burger, professor of Indian Studies, to explore a collection of mystic diagrams—an artistic treasury that has inspired Mury’s work since the 1990s.

Carrying Treasures by Esther Brinkmann
Feb 6, 18:30-20:00
Creator, teacher and ambassador for jewellery - these three roles have made Esther Brinkmann a key figure in jewellery design not only in her native Switzerland, but also in China and India, where she lived and worked for almost ten years. Thanks to her contact with master artisans in both countires she has explored new horizons with her work. Indian enamel and Chinese jade carving have made their way into her favourite piece of jewellery, the ring. (Elizabeth Fischer)

Lechbinska Forum is proud to present a curated selection of both early and recent works by Esther Brinkmann, inviting you to explore the artistry of wearable art she has mastered.

Luo Mingjun | Break Up Étoiles
Aug 30-Oct 26, 2024
On 105 sheets of rice paper individually mounted on wooden panels, arranged like Lao Tse's text in four rows of ten entities, Luo Mingjun broke free of calligraphy and dotted the square segments with randomly orchestrated ink marks. The result: the significantly titled Break Up, 105 "constellations" that could never be brought together as a single image, as each obeys its own laws of, for example, dispersion, centrifugal movement, and dilution, and thus cannot be copied or reproduced.
